Well the toyfair coverage is going up fast and furious over at CollectionDX and while we where there we shot a lot of video. This is our Lego coverage and in it there are some hijinks and we spoil the big secret of the new Indiana Jones movie. There is fair warning so you can opt out of seeing it. Enjoy!

Can’t wait for must see TV? Watch 4 NBC Pilots for free NOW.

Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that NBC is offering 4 of their new pilots for viewing now for free on Amazon Unboxed.

Considering NBC will be charging $5 an episode when the seasons start you might want to wander over and see if any of the new shows are any good.  Shows include the new Bionic Woman, Chuck, Journey Man and Life. I’ll probably check these out and report on them in the next podcast.

You can read the news for yourself at Ain’t It Cool News.

Toy Review: GLYOS SYSTEM ACTION FIGURES “Phase” Pheyden & “Hyper” Exellis

I first met Matt and Jessie of Onell Designs at Toyfair07 and I was impressed with their passion for toy collecting and while I may not have been to into the Bean collectibles (their Day job) I was very intrigued by the prototypes they had for a new space line of toys. Low and behold 7 months later they release their first two figures to the market place. Pheyden and Exellis from the Glyos System Series.

Well I finally got my hands on a few and I must say, believe the hype! These are very cool! They are beautifully designed and look nothing like any toy line you have ever seen before. The more I handle and play with them the more I like the sculpt lines and detail. There is an organic look to it all that really reflects their and made to withstand the rough play kids put their toys threw in the backyard. Seriously, these things do not break. Don’t believe me? Check out these vids that where recorded to verify the quality of these fine collectibles.

First Josh over at CollectionDX does his test by throwing his against the wall.

Then Sanjeev steps up with a REAL throw.

Not to be outdone and to silence the naysayers who where disappointed no Chogokin was destroyed in the testing process the Bacon King himself Mason steps in with his vid.

Very impressive as you can see.

The figures come in a nice little window box with beautiful hand drawn art decorating the box and the figure packed in a plastic tray that slides out. A very nice, simple, classy presentation that includes a trading card with pictures of the whole lineup. When you take the figure out of the package it has that plastic smell Star Wars figures would have back in the day.

Not only do they survive the pocket and the backyard battles but their parts are interchangeable. Currently there are three color variations of each figure and more are on the way. I do know they are planning all sorts of cool things including accessory packs and vinyl biosuit/mecha looking suits these figures fit into as well as more characters and vehicles.

I can not express just how neat these guys are. I have had them kicking around my desk for about two weeks now and they are fun.

Some of the collectors have complained about the price, a mere $10. Honestly I think Josh over at CollectionDX said it best. “You’ve spent $10 on dumber things.”

So do yourself a favor and head over to Onell Designs and get some today before you miss out. Mark my words, you will be hearing about these folks more and more.

I want to give MAtt a special thank you for the samples and know I will be buying a full set real soon.

Flying blind on a Hawkman Rocket Cycle

Hawkman Rocket Cycle

When you absolutely have to hang out with flying Hawkmen there is no better way to fly.

Hawkman Rocket Cycle

The Hawkman Rocket Cycle, the slickest ride in all of Sci-Fidom. It’s the toy I never got as an 8 year old kid. Not because my Dad wouldn’t buy it for me but because no company thought to make it and ever since there has been a giant hole in my heart.

Hawkman Rocket Cycle

Well the 8 year old kid in me can rejoice because BifBangPow! is going to save everyone of us. That’s right after 27 years a toy maker finally gets it and is bringing Flash Gordon figures to the market.

Hawkman Rocket Cycle

BifBangPow! is a new toy company owned by Jason Lenzi and Jason Lab and their first two properties are The Big Lebowski and Flash Gordon. Both lines look very cool but it’s the Flash Gordon stuff I am here to talk about today.

First up are Flash and Ming The Merciless, both sculpted and designed by Alex Ross and the prototypes look fantastic. I have it on good authority that if these guys sell well we will get more characters added and the chance to finally get a Hawkman Rocket Cycle.

Hawkman Rocket Cycle

New Glyos System Series Toy Line Introduces Old School Playability to Independent Toy Scene

Onell Design applies classic injection molding to small run toy production

ACTON, MA, August 20, 2007 – Onell Design, a new independent toy and comic company, is pleased to announce the debut of its Glyos System Series toy line. hearkening back to the action figure design principles of the mid-1980’s, these rugged toys are made with playability, durability and accessibility in mind.

Unveiled at the 2007 San Diego Comic-Con, the Glyos System Series was well received by adults and kids alike. “They have what a lot of the “collector” toys are missing these days, and that is FUN. You can actually play with them,” writes Josh Bernard, owner of CollectionDX, in his August 9th review of the product. The new line features three different versions of Space Traveler Pheyden – Standard (blue), Gear’s Edge (sepia) and Phase (clear green) – and three versions of Prototype Sincroid Exellis – Standard (midnight), Hyper (yellow) and Aves (red).

The Glyos System Series figures are produced using a full-color classic injection molding process, as opposed to the current rotocast toy trend. The durable PVC construction results in a unique aesthetic that appeals to the seasoned toy collector but can also withstand the rough play that comes with child’s active imagination.

Each figure stands 2.75” tall, has 12 points of articulation, and is guaranteed to “Survive the Pocket”. As an added bonus, all parts are fully interchangeable. Window-boxed in unique packaging, both the Pheyden and Exellis toys come with a mini catalog and collector card. The figures are now available for $10 each at www.onelldesign.com.

About Onell Design:

Onell Design, a small independent company owned and operated by a husband and wife team, is dedicated to producing original toys and comics. All products are created in limited runs to ensure collectability, paving the way for innovative new projects. The Glyos System Series is the brainchild of Matt Doughty, founder of Onell Design, who is responsible for the conceptual artwork, character design, sculpting, and figure packaging. Onell Design also produces several original comics, including Gear’s Edge, Rechlen and Aves, MicroShow and Sidrick.
