Is It Legal For USA Citizens To Play In Online Casinos
In October 2006 a law was enforced in the USA making online gambling practically illegal. From my understanding the law stated that money transfers from USA banks to online casinos were illegal.
Despite this law there are numerous ways that USA citizens can deposit money and play in online casinos e.g they can send money to online wallets. Once the money is in the online wallet they then send it to a casino.
There are other ways that USA citizens can deposit money as well but I won’t go into details. Due to the different options available to USA players and the amount of propaganda that is out there a lot of people are confused about whether or not USA players can legally play in online casinos.
Sure it’s illegal for the banks to transfer money to casinos but does that make it illegal for USA citizens to actually gamble if they can get money to the casino by some other means? Even I am a little confused as to what the actual law is.
It seems a lot of online casino and poker website are also confused which is why they have pulled out of the USA market despite the knowledge that doing so would decrease their stock value dramatically. Some online casinos are actually using the law to their advantage, they are actually targeting the USA market due to the decreased competition.
This means there are still plenty of places for USA citizens to play roulette, poker or any other from gambling online. I however would advice extreme caution if you are a USA player and maybe even seek legal advice.
I’m always a little dubious about online casinos for USA players in case they aren’t giving a fair game. While these online casinos accept USA players they certainly aren’t licensed in the USA and are often based in scam artist hot spots such as Costa Rica.
The laws in such countries have much more flexible laws than in countries like the United Kingdom and this basically means that if they want to rip you off they can. If you are a USA citizen it’s is advisable to do your due diligence before playing at a casino and make sure that you’re making the right decision.
